Somatotropịn

somatotropes Hormon; Wachstumshormon, Abkürzung STH und GH
ein aus 191 Aminosäuren aufgebautes Hormon des Hypophysen-Vorderlappens, das wachstumsfördernd durch Anregung der Proteinbiosynthese (anabole Wirkung) und Hemmung des Aminosäurenabbaus wirkt. Somatotropinmangel führt zu Zwergwuchs, Somatotropin-Überproduktion zu Riesenwuchs. Somatotropin ist auch für die Laktation notwendig. Fette werden durch Somatotropin mobilisiert, und die Fettverbrennung wird gesteigert. Somatotropin fördert Knorpel- und Knochenwachstum.
